Faculty & StaffShelley Ellis

Rocky Mountain College has a long and proud history of staff and faculty members that go the extra mile both in and out of the classroom.

Shelley Ellis is no exception.

Coming to RMC's Education Department in 2001, Shelley has become a fixture for dedication to her students and the discipline of education. Whether in the classroom or the cozy confines of her office, Shelley embodies the openness and warmth that she hopes her students will take with them into their future classrooms.

Undeterred by any challenge, Shelley oversees secondary education at RMC, which includes specialized majors ranging from mathematics, English, art, and biology – making her a true embodiment of RMC's liberal arts core. Thanks to her dedication, RMC students have an excellent reputation within the education community, with RMC students frequently being requested by schools for student teachers and permanent positions.

Outside of the classroom, Shelley's love for her dogs (Romeo and Juliet) and walks along Norm's Island provide rest and relaxation from work; however, she is quick to point out that her true passion and joy comes from teaching and interacting with her students – according to Shelley: "I need them as much as they need me; they help keep me motivated every day."

Through nurturing her students, Shelley is able to build lasting relationships with them not just during college, but for life. Being able to associate with former students as friends and colleagues brings her joy and satisfaction.

When students come to Rocky Mountain College, they can expect to work hard. But they can rest assured that the faculty and staff of RMC are working just as hard – simply ask Shelley.
